CONGO RIVER ADVENTURE GOLF
STAFF APPLICANT INTRODUCTION
Is this the right job for you?
Thank you for your interest in a staff position at CONGO
RIVER GOLF, GAMES & EXPLORATION CO. We are always looking for passionate,
responsible, mature, and friendly individuals to join our team. CONGO
RIVER is a terrific place to work: however, it is not for everyone. A
successful staff member will need to have an outgoing personality, a strong
work ethic, and flexible availability. Prior to completing an application
for employment, we would like to share with you some of our expectations
of any new employee. While the list is not all-inclusive, it should help
you in deciding whether you are a "match" for our funpark.
PERSONALITY
Every CONGO RIVER staff member has daily contact with
guests. Our goal is to create fun and memorable experiences for our staff
and guests. Our business is entertainment. A positive attitude, good people
skills, and courtesy at all times are required. Those who enjoy working
with young kids may have additional interest in being a host / hostess
for our birthday party and special group outings. If you do not thoroughly
enjoy interacting with people, this is not the job for you.
WORK ETHIC AND DUTIES
- You must be willing to do lots of challenging work. For every hour
that you spend as part of our Guest Relations team, there will be equal
time spent on more "hands-on" duties. We have a small staff,
and therefore everyone is cross-trained and expected to share the work.
You should anticipate many days where digging trenches, weeding, power
washing, painting and other landscaping, maintenance, and cleaning duties
are part of your daily responsibilities.
- One of the benefits of working at CONGO RIVER is the outdoor atmosphere.
However, the downside of this is that Mother Nature is not always friendly.
Staff members can count on working many days in the cold and rain of
Spring and Autumn; working on hot summer days; and dealing with the
annual challenge of mosquitoes on humid summer evenings.
- We expect all staff to be self-motivated to do their best at all times.
A positive and upbeat attitude is also expected. We will teach you what
you need to know in order to do a great job and offer opportunities
to grow personally. It is your responsibility to supply a willingness
to learn and the determination to do well.
SCHEDULE
- CONGO RIVER is open from early April to mid October. However, our
staff working season begins in early March and runs through the end
of October. With rare exception, only those able to stay through the
end of the season will be considered for a position.
- Also, as an entertainment facility, the hours of shifts are determined
by the level of business. Therefore, we work while others play. While
there are shifts available Monday-Friday during the day, all staff members
must be available to work evenings, weekends, and those holidays that
fall within our season.
- CONGO RIVER is open from 10am- Midnight during the Summer and on weekends
in Spring and Fall. Staff who are 16 and older will need to be part
of the rotation of people who work until 1am or so on non-school nights.
Those who are 14 or 15 will need to be available to work until 11pm
on non-school nights.
HONESTY
Honesty and truthfulness are expected without exception
at CONGO RIVER. Please do not apply if these are difficult concepts for
you. This means accurate cash handling, inventory control, and being certain
that all guests properly pay for the use of our facility.
APPEARANCE
- All employees are required to wear a clean uniform supplied by CONGO
RIVER including polo shirt, optional cap, optional sweatshirt, and name
badge. Staff may wear either approved khaki shorts or clean blue jeans.
All staff members must wear white or tan shoes; either tennis shoes
or deck-style shoes. No other dress is acceptable.
- Female staff members: No extreme hairstyles or colors; two earrings
per ear only; two rings maximum per hand; no excessively long or colored
nails; and makeup should be light and conservative.
- Male staff members: face must be clean shaven at all times; hair may
not extend below the base of the shoulder; no tails, streaks, extreme
colors, or hair engraving will be permitted. No earrings.
- All Staff: No visible non-ear "body" piercings, necklaces
are to be worn inside shirt, and common sense hygiene is expected of
all CONGO RIVER staff members. We periodically do drug and security
checks.
These guidelines are not complete and will be explained
further if you choose to continue the application process. While certain
items may appear to be strict, we hope you realize that they support our
image and therefore are a prerequisite of employment with CONGO RIVER
GOLF. GAMES & EXPLORATION CO.
If you are comfortable working within these guidelines,
please download or pick-up and fill out an application. We look forward
to meeting you.
CONGO RIVER is an equal opportunity employer.
